10 Healthy Snacks Ideas For the Girl on the Go!

Today’s blog post is all about food!

One of the questions from Sunday’s Q&A was about healthy snacks, and that reminded me that this was a blog post I had started over the summer and then things got busy, other stuff took priority, so it was set to the side. As we gear up for the holidays coming in just a few weeks, I am trying my best to eat clean and healthy and to get into a good routine, before the chaos ensues.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been making more of an effort to cut out dairy and gluten as much as possible. I have been sticking to the Whole30 diet Monday-Friday, and then lightly indulging on the weekends. I’ve noticed so many benefits from eliminating large amounts of both gluten and dairy from my diet, especially in my energy levels and in my skin. However, if I am being completely honest… I’ll always love cheese and never be able to fully give it up… lol! My commitment to myself moving forward beyond Whole30 is to try to limit dairy and gluten throughout the weeks as much as possible, and on the weekend occasionally have those things I love… like queso.

So with that being said, this past summer I was on the hunt for healthier snack options that are easy to grab on the go! Here are some of my favorites that I’ve been reaching for over and over again lately. These are all things I’ll have on hand and take with me to school as well.

10 healthy snack ideas

  1. Hippeas – my newest favorite snack! These things are seriously so good. The siracha sunshine flavor is my favorite, but they are all really tasty!
  2. Avocado Salad – a mixture of diced avocado, chopped Roma tomatoes, feta cheese (if you’re not dairy free), drizzled in light Italian dressing and seasoned with salt and pepper, so yum.
  3. Oui Yogurt – my favorite yogurt of all time! I just found out they have started making a dairy free option too! Other dairy free yogurts I like include this one and this one. I’m also a big fan of adding a sprinkle of granola into my cereal for a little crunch.
  4. Apples & Almond Butter – honey crisp apples all the way.
  5. Skinny Pop Cinnamon Chips – if I am craving something on the sweeter side, this is what I always go for first. I like that the cinnamon flavor is enough to taste, but not too over-powering either!
  6. Turkey Deli Meat & Watermelon – a little protein rolled up with a side of something sweet.
  7. Siete Chips & Homemade Guacamole – Chips and dip are my love language. I could eat chips and dip all day every day for the rest of forever. Thank goodness for the amazingness that is Siete everything. And apparently now Siete has a dairy free cheese dip? YES!
  8. Carrots & Hummus – I told ya, I love dip, and while carrots aren’t my first choice for dipping, I do love a good carrot and hummus snack.
  9. Almonds, Chocolate Chips, and a Cutie – Perfect mixture of salty, sweet, and tarte.
  10. Fruit Smoothie – recipe linked. This is a go-to snack for me when I am home, near my blender. Add a scoop of protein powder for a little something extra!

If you have other healthy snacks that you like to eat, I’d love for you to share! I’m always looking for new snack items to add to my list and rotation!
