Good morning from East Texas!
I realized today that we are nearing the one month mark since our lives were kind of turned upside down here in the states. Some days it feels like it has flown by, and others it feels like we’ve been at home for years. After seeing the contents of #4, John Krasinski’s video, I was inspired to start making a list each week of the things that brought me joy during that week. Writing down those positive, happy moments has reminded me there is so much to be grateful for.
Here are ten things that brought me joy this week. I’d love to know yours too!
1. Thomas Rhett released a new song that is absolutely perfect for this time. It’s called “Be a Light”, and is all about being a light in a world of darkness. The crazy thing is I heard on a morning talk show that it was written over a year ago, but just now released. It was much needed, and serves as a great reminder that God’s timing is perfect. Listen to “Be A Light” here! psst. Keith Urban is featured on it too, so major bonus!
2. Being home more means that time spent with my favorite little dude is multiplied. Baker visits “Nana’s Daycare” while his mama gets work from home done, and the snuggles with him have been the very best. Aunt life is too sweet.
3. New nail polish, it’s the little things, y’all. I was so excited for my nail polish order to come in the mail from Target! I haven’t painted my own nails in forever, so my polish stash was dried out. My nails are having a much needed break from dip and were looking a little rough, so the polish was a happy addition!
4. If you haven’t seen John Krasinski’s new video for his channel Some Good News, check it out here. It’s sure to put a smile on your face!
5. Caitlin from Southern Curls and Pearls shared a recipe for homemade Jalapeño Margaritas on her stories a couple weeks ago, and it did not disappoint! Drew’s mom and I made them one night, and they were delish! Margaritas are my preferred drink of choice, and the jalapeño just adds a little extra something!
6. I love family game nights. End of story.
7. Seeing my kinder angels’ faces via Zoom and FaceTime is the only way I’m surviving not being able to see them. I’m praying hard everyday that we will be able to reconnect for a couple of weeks in May together. I’m not ready to pass on this group to 1st grade. Thank goodness for video calls!
8. I’ve spent a lot of time putting together this new web-design and transferring everything from the old format. I’ve had so much fun designing and expressing myself creatively, and I hope you like it too!
9. Fresh air and happy puppies. It’s a win-win for everybody!
10. We are officially right under two months from being husband and wife! I am making a conscious choice each day to celebrate and enjoy what’s left of our engagement and wedding planning, despite the circumstances. Choosing joy isn’t always easy, but this is supposed to be a joyful and exciting season, so I am choosing to celebrate the countdown.
It is so easy to get wrapped up in everything going on and to be consumed by feelings of worry, doubt, fear, the list goes on and on. Those feelings are absolutely valid, and you are not alone or wrong for feeling them! Not everyday is joyful or easy, but what I have realized is there are so so many things to be grateful for, even in a time such as this.
I’d love to know how you are fostering and choosing joy amidst the chaos of life right now in the comments below!
Sending so much love to you wherever you are!
xx,
Madison
