Letter Land Classroom Transformation

It’s been a full week since my last classroom transformation, and I am JUST now getting around to sharing it! #tiredteacher

Last Friday my sweet kiddos received their second Patriot party for good behavior, and they were so excited to see what the surprise would be this time! Starbooks was a big hit in December, so I was a little worried about trying to top that day, but I think they enjoyed this one just as much! 🙂

Welcome to Letter Land!

Once again, I found this adorable idea on the magical land of Instagram and immediately knew I needed my classroom to also be candy land for a day! We ate lots of sugar and did allllll the candy themed activities… and it was the BEST DAY EVER! Because if you’re five years old, really there aren’t many things quite as great as candy!

For the decorations, Amazon became my best friend, and one of my sweet parents went above and beyond on our wishlist helping me buy the rolls of table cloths to transform the room! And then our home-room mom, aka Drew Evans, came up after school was over on Thursday and stayed with me there until 6:30 getting everything ready. #praisesformyfuturehusband #blesshissoul

If you’re a teacher and interested in doing something similar, I included links to everything on Amazon at the bottom of this post! I made some of the stations and others were found on TPT! Everything else was easily made with supplies I already had here at school— colored paper + butcher paper.

The work was worth it though, because we had such a fun day! Letter Land wasn’t just about letters, we also incorporated some fun literacy and math stations along with some STEM activities!

At Cupcake Creek students matched pictures to CVC and CVCE words on cupcakes and frosting!

Students got to choose one piece of candy and write 10 adjectives to describe their candy!

Students wrote a fictional story about their candy canes!

During the Chocolate Mountain station students used Play-Doh and spinners to spin a number to subtract from 10.

Gummy Cave is where students rolled dice to add two numbers together using gummy bears as manipulatives!

Peppermint Pass was one of our STEM stations. Students drew and predicted what they thought would happen to a peppermint when placed in a cup of cold water and a cup of warm water, and then tested the experiment!

I think Licorice Lagoon was my favorite of them all! They had to create a bridge out of clothespins and popsicle sticks to save the bear from falling into the red licorice lagoon… and I loved watching them plan out what they would create and then put it into action with their creative engineering!

Gumdrop Hills was also STEM focused and students were able to build structures out of toothpicks and gumdrops to see who could build the tallest and largest one.

We also had an initial sounds matching station and a sight word building station on our carpet!

And there you have it— Kindergarten Letter Land! I hope you enjoyed seeing one of our more creative days and the fun we had! If it isn’t already obvious… I LOVE MY JOB.

Happy Friday!

xx,

Madison
