2021 Goal Setting + Planning

Happy New Year!

It is an exciting time of year, full of fresh starts and new beginnings! As we we look ahead to what the new year brings, I know many many people are leaving behind a difficult year in 2020. If that was you, my hope is that this new year brings peace, love, joy and good health to you and those you love! While 2020 was a rocky year along the way, looking back I feel immensely blessed at the life changes that occurred for me throughout the year, and I simply can’t complain. However, as we look forward to the year ahead I am excited for the opportunity to start new once again and to work toward new goals and growth.

I have always been a very goal-oriented kind of gal, and love to plan out my goals to have something to work toward! I currently work in a Leader in Me Lighthouse school (based off of Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People!!!) and we teach our students daily the importance of planning smart goals. Meaning the goals we set are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely. I’ve learned so much that applies also to my adult life through the Leader in Me principles, especially when it comes to goals for my own personal life! In order for a goal to be a smart goal and not simply an empty promise with no follow-through, there has to be action steps in order to achieve it! When thinking of my goals for 2021 I knew I wanted to focus on three key areas: our home, overall health, and blogging.

Instead of setting just one goal for each of those areas of focus and then them getting lost or forgotten somewhere between February and March, I’ve decided this year to set monthly goals for each focus. Setting monthly goals allows them to be more relevant, achievable and timely, instead of having one massive, unattainable or unmeasurable goal for the entire year.

With each goal I am giving myself three action steps in order to achieve that task or objective within the month, making it both measurable and specific.

Is it just me, or is anyone else more inclined to do something when there’s a checklist or “to do list” tangibly in front of them?! And bonus if it’s a *pretty* checklist! Being the visual person I am, I made these monthly goal setting graphics to print out and post by my desk area to serve as a daily reminder of the things I am working toward! They could also easily serve as an iPhone wallpaper or widget graphic.

Feel free to save or screenshot them to use in your own goal setting!

Here is an example of my three areas of focus and goals for January!

Happy Planning!

If you do use them, I’d love for you to share them by posting and tagging me so I can see all of you goal-getters CRUSHING your goals this year!

Let’s do this 2021!

xx,
