It’s WEDDING WEEK! Well, Wedding #1 Week that is! I am more confident than ever that Drew and I made the right decision when we decided to keep May 30th as our day to become husband and wife, even if it meant our wedding itself looked differently. I am so excited for what’s to come Saturday and every day after that.
Postponing was hard. Like really hard. I won’t lie or sugar-coat it. It was not something I would have ever wanted or planned for, but the Lord has taken this time to reveal himself and his plans for our wedding and marriage, and it’s already coming together so beautifully. We knew in our hearts that we couldn’t let May 30th pass as just another day at home. I’ve never prayed over a particular day of the year quite like I have for this day, weather and all. (Which by the way is forecasted right now to be sunny and beautiful!) We knew it was our day, and as we quickly approach it, I am SO thankful we kept that date to celebrate the creation of a covenant marriage together!
I don’t have a specific purpose or “topic” to cover in this wedding Wednesday post, rather just wanted to share a quick update in the days leading up to what will likely be two of the most life changing weeks of our lives.
Saturday after we say “I do” we will be off to celebrate a little mini-moon for a few days. We found a beautiful resort about 5 hours from Tyler, so it is the perfect little get-away that is still in driving distance for us. And then once we get back home we’ll have another big week ahead of us…
Because WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!
The day after we get back from our mini-moon will officially be move-in day for us!
Our house was another sign for us pointing toward keeping our date in May and postponing for our big ceremony in August. We found our house in February, and within an hour of the showing we put a bid on it. The logistics of it all couldn’t have worked out better because of the previous owners’ need to stay until the summer, and we officially closed last week to make it ours!
It has been a busy couple of weeks getting everything finalized on the house, packing, buying appliances, and also preparing for wedding #1!
I have to say, during this time I’m more grateful than ever for the love and support of sweet friends and family. Saturday will be a labor of love from our two families, especially my mom and my sweet mother in law, and also our friends. Each family member and friend has stepped up for us and been so helpful in making sure the day is perfect. I can’t wait to share the details of it all with you! It’s going to be intimate, and sweet, and nothing I could have ever imagined, yet somehow maybe exactly what I needed on this day.
More than anything, I am SO ready to be Drew’s wife. There’s been such a sense of peace that’s come over me in the last couple of weeks, and I know it is because I’m days away from making the best decision of my life! On our change the date’s we sent in the mail we included a message to our guests, and I want to leave it here as well and invite you to pray with and for us this Saturday, May 30th at 6:30 PM as we become husband and wife. Your prayers are coveted as we begin this journey together!
Next time I’m back here for a Wedding Wednesday I’ll be Mrs. Evans!
3 and 87 days to go!
xx,
Madison
